Soother smoothie

A smoothie that soothes the digestive tract, calms inflammation, bloating and repairs mucous membranes.

Ingredients

  • 1 sml pear (green is ok)
  • ½ tin coconut milk
  • 1 sml avocado
  • 2 tbsp cold pressed avocado oil
  • 3 tbsp cold pressed coconut oil
  • 1 aloe vera leaf (inner gel only)
  • 50ml organic apple cidar vinegar

Method

Cut pear in half and place in saucepan and lie flat side down with 50ml of apple cidar vinegar. Poach until pears are soft. Drain vinegar ( or save for salad dressing) and chop softened pears and place in large blender jug. Carefully halve aloe leaf and scrape inner gel out and place in blender. Add avocado, avocado oil, coconut milk, coconut oil and small amount of water and blend until smooth.

Why these ingredients for the digestive system?

Essential Fatty Acids such as omega 3, 6,9 are found in avocado and it’s oil which are anti-inflammatory. Monounsaturated fats found in avocado are key to healthy female reproductive hormonal regulation and maintaining healthy blood lipids.

Medium chain triglycerides are found in coconut oil which are used in energy pathways as a fuel source and great for burning excess fat.

Avocado contains vitamin A and E which are key antioxidants and key nutrients found in the cells of the digestive tract.

Coconut oil and milk is also anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and high in essential vitamins and minerals to soothe the gastrointestinal lining.

Aloe vera is soothing to the mucous membranes of the digestive tract and aid in establishing a healthy environment for probiotics and prebiotics.

Apple cidar vinegar helps to alkalise the body’s tissue and establish a healthy stomach acid to aid in digestion of foods, specifically proteins.
